What is Yoga

Yoga –

Literally, means to unite or make whole:
regarding the body, mind and spirit ~
harmonizing and balancing ~
ourselves, our lives, and our world…

Forget the images of acrobatic, pretzel-like postures. Yoga meets you as you are here today, at this moment! ~ often very different from what we expect of ourselves ~ or compare ourselves to what we “used to” or “want to” be.

Postures are only one aspect of practicing Yoga ~
There are eight ‘limbs' of Yoga, from:
Behaviors; Thoughts: Breathing; Postures; Inner Focus; One-Pointed Concentration; Deep Meditation; all blending together to bring about a state of ‘Bliss’ or ‘Absorption’ into the infinite. One can spend more then a lifetime learning and incorporating all these limbs.

Meeting each day with what you have ~
No more, no less ~
is all that is required.

I believe in teaching from the bottom-up and from the inside-out, finding and strengthening the foundation and the breath which allows us to move into the next level ~ whether in ‘practice’ or in ‘life’.

I provide class settings, as well as private Yoga sessions, one-on-one, mixing bodywork/massage techniques in to help alleviate limitations and create greater expansion of the body and of the mind.

I studied for my certification with Monique Maxwell, of regional renown for her ability to communicate to, and thereby teach, even a class ranging from beginner to advanced and make it be an incredible experiential practice for each and everyone wanting to learn.

My prenatal Yoga teacher training was with Monique and certification with Janice Clarfield ~ internationally renowned teacher.

While my many years of dance (including ballet, jazz, modern, tap, African, ballroom, and hip-hop), various forms of yoga (including Hatha, Lyenqar, Bikram, and Ashtanqa), and 1,000’s of hours studying bodywork modalities have given me many ways to explore and develop my own creativity to share. I mold my classes based on the fundamentals of Yoga that I summararily categorize as~

Breath, Foundation, Core, & Focus ~
all together leading to Yoga ~

the union of mind/body/spirit.

If I may be of help to you in your journey, I have success. I am honored to share with you. Namaste, Peace.
